Help "OUTBOUND" play at the theatre

Donation protected
Introducing "OUTBOUND" a 30 minute epic science fiction short film, unique in that it mainly stars a cast who live with developmental disabilities. After a year of filming and post production the film has finally been completed, but here is where your help is needed...

It was always the dream of the majority of those involved that the film be shown on the big screen in a movie theatre. This dream is now almost a reality, all that is left is raising the cost of the fee to show the movie at Cineplex Silvercity in Mission, British Columbia. In return for the community’s support, admission to OUTBOUND will be free, and any money raised in excess of the cost of showing the movie in theatre will be donated to Autism Speaks Canada: www.autismspeaks.ca

By showing OUTBOUND in theater, it is our hope to remove the stigma around mental health and raise awareness. Dozens of individuals with developmental disabilities have taken part in this film, their passion for the moviemaking process really shows, and the result is a very entertaining action-adventure sci fi movie.

The movie was filmed using greenscreens, features realistic scenes in space, and was shot at various locations across the fraser valley, and lower mainland in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

Here is the breakdown of what we need to raise:

For one hour at Cineplex: (30 minutes for the film, plus a brief introduction)

750 (theatre equipment rental) + 12% (tax)= $840
250 (1 hour time slot) + 5% (tax)= $262.50
=1102.50

Plus $32 for gofundme fees

Total= 1134.50

Once this money is raised, OUTBOUND will have its premiere!

As the Director of the film, inspiration was drawn from having a brother with Autism, who is also a savant and composed original music for this movie. This movie also owes a great deal of gratitude to the many individuals with special needs, support staff, and volunteer actors and actresses who took the time to be in the film. Everyone in this film volunteered their time to be in it, and it could not have been made without them.

A special thanks also needs to be extended to the main actor: Darrin Riga, who lives with Autism and has been such a powerful example to those around him. In addition to once having his own radio show that raised awareness for people with special needs, he loves filmmaking as much as I do. We previously made "The Drifter" together, a western short film that was shot on a professional movie set; making the Abbotsford news and Mission City Record, it is viewable here:

"OUTBOUND"     THE PLOT

It is the future.

Earth is dying, and the only thing left to do is to find a replacement before it’s too late. In a final act of desperation, a crew with the latest technology has been sent to the other side of the galaxy. Their mission: To verify if a distant green planet can support life.

Upon arrival, things soon take a turn for the worse. A meteor shower leaves a group stranded on the planet with no way out. Adding to the suspense is the fact that an unknown force has begun taking the crew one by one. They are not alone on the planet...

We look forward to bringing OUTBOUND to the big screen, and appreciate any help you can offer. As soon as the goal is reached, we will release the premiere date and donate any proceeds over our target limit to Autism Speaks, a charity that raises awareness and dedicates itself to improving the lives of those with Autism.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to seeing you at the premiere!
