Help Rachael and Her Boys Start Over

If you know Rachael Moragues, you know that she can roll with the punches. Life has thrown plenty of them her way, with the loss of her husband to cancer almost a decade ago, and the challenges of raising two boys as a single mom. These challenges have made her a careful protector of her home life. After moving so many times, she was sure that she had found her forever home in Peacham. Here, she is a leader in the community, including past service as the Peacham Farmer's Market manager and current work as the Town recreation coordinator, all while managing a local small business and co-leading a capoeira troupe. She worked hard to renovate what was a fixer-upper next to a quiet brook in South Peacham into a beautiful refuge for herself and her boys. As a generous host and thoughtful friend, her home was the venue for many heartfelt porch conversations and epic get-togethers with family and friends.

Last week, that same quiet brook in South Peacham devastated our town. While her family (and others) were literally fleeing for their lives, her basement flooded and the house's foundation was severely compromised. Cost estimates to make the house safe to live in again are financially not viable, not to mention the uncertainty of whether those repairs would hold in the event of another flood. She is now faced with the devastating reality that she cannot return to the beautiful home that she has built for herself and her boys.

Rachael has been through the process of rebuilding before, but she should not have to do it alone. She needs our help to put the pieces back together. Please donate to help her start over again and find a new home for her family.
