Help Rachael save Birdie

Dear equestrian community,
We are writing to share that Birdie, our friend and coach Rachael’s beautiful, beloved, talented horse has become seriously ill with a recalcitrant infection requiring a lengthy stay at New Bolton Veterinary Hospital. Due to a quirk with her insurance, care for Birdie’s life-threatening illness is not covered.
As horse people, we all know that the partnership between horse and rider is deep and meaningful, and being in the position to equivocate about providing medical care for our equine partners due to cost is emotionally brutal. If you have any funds to spare, please consider supporting Rachael and her family in caring for Birdie—as everyone knows, the cost of medical care for a large animal is, shall we say, proportionate to their size. As of this writing, Birdie’s vet costs are rising above $10,000. Any amount we can share with Rachael will be a tremendous help. And if you do not have funds to share, please consider sharing this campaign and words of support for Rachael and Birdie.
Jan 15 update - Birdie is still at New Bolton receiving multiple limb profusions daily. The infection entered her joint, which is usually the last straw - but they feel she is strong enough to pull through if they can get that infection cured. Of course her medical bills are mounting daily and Rachael and her family need our continued financial and emotional support - any amount is appreciated. Rachael is so grateful to everyone that has made her continued medical care for Birdie an option.
