Help Rachel & Josh’s Families Rebuild after Helene
Donation protected
10.1 Update: After miraculously raising $10,000 for Rachel’s family in less than 24 hours, we decided to help another family in need. The next $10,000 will go to Josh, Josh’s family and his parents. Josh is a handyman living in Old Fort, NC. Josh’s parents house was marked condemned on Saturday. They are trying to salvage the personal belongings that they can but almost everything is ruined from the flooding.
Original 9.30 Campaign: We are hoping to raise $10,000 for my Asheville area housekeeper Rachel, her mom Barbara, and 3 beautiful daughters Marayla (14), Makinley (9), and Mylah (7) who tragically lost everything in Hurricane Helen. Her house, her car, her mother's car, all furniture, beds, everything. They were only able to salvage clothing in closets only.
Rachel lived in Old Fort, NC (Asheville Area) and insurance can not even get there for an undisclosed amount of time. Rachel's work is cleaning Airbnbs so her work is also temporarily paused while houses do not have power or water to be able to be cleaned and rachel can't get to them without a car.
This money is to help Rachel and her family get by while they wait for insurance to get access. 100% of the money is being sent directly to Stephanie Allison who is taking out cash from the ATM and hand delivering it to Rachel.
Here are the last photos we got from Rachel looking out her window at the beginning of the Hurricane:

About the campaign:
1. Nathan is a dad and husband living in the suburbs of Chicago. Nathan became part of the Asheville community last year through owning an airbnb there
2. Rachel is a mother of 3 girls who lived in Old Fort, NC. Rachel is a cleaner for Allison Home services
4. How the funds will be spent: Rachel plans to use the $10,000 to buy: mattresses and sheets for her and her 3 girls, food and water, fuel, and a downpayment on a new car so she can get back to work. Josh plans to use the funds to buy his parents a new car, fuel, and food and water for the next month.
