Help Rafael with medical expenses and treatments

Hi, my name is Laura Leigh and I am raising funds for my friend Rafael Martin.

Here is a short bio from Rafael.

“I am a 52-year-old single father of three children ages 16, 18 and 21. I am currently a special education teacher at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Florida. I mostly teach autistic students. For me teaching is a calling, and I love it.

Cancer has had a dramatic effect on my life. I lost my mom to stomach cancer on January 18, 2005. I found out that I had prostate cancer on March 2014, and in April 2014 I had my prostate removed. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to other parts of my body. Since then I have had three more surgeries, hormonal treatments, radiation, and chemotherapy. I’ve been fighting cancer for over 7 years, and some days its really tough. However, I am fighting for more time with my children, family and friends. Each day is a gift. Life is good and it’s worth fighting for. I hope that my daily journal inspires others to keep fighting their own battles.

I'd like people to know that I am fighting everyday and I just want more time with my children, family and friends. I need help with the medical bills and I would like to see if there are other cancer treatments I can try in bigger cancer centers.”

Rafael has shared his journey daily on Facebook, he is inspiring, selfless and so deserving of support. He never misses an opportunity to encourage and uplift others, regardless of what he is going through. Today Rafael shared that he received some bad news and I would really love to see him get some kind of relief and support.

I am here. A doctor found a lesion on my neck that caused a fracture. They immediately called for an ambulance and sent me here for an MRI. It's really painful writing this, but I just want to say thank you for your prayers and support. Things look grim now, but I will find a way to survive. I will find a way.”
