I have never felt compelled to do something like this before today.
Years ago, the young son of a subscriber found his way into my broadcast chat room at just 10 years old. "RageFan10" said hello and explained he was only ten. To my horrified amusement, I suggested he run this by his mother who was already rushing into the room.
Recently by chance, Morgan had come into contact with his mother who explained they had suffered a terrible accident. When she explained to me what happened I immediately remembered RageFan and wondered if this was the same kid. It was.
"D" here loves the outdoors and being a kid. Unfortunately, accidents happen and in this case D was left with a broken neck, broken skull, broken ankle, broken tibia, spinal tap and surgeries. He's lucky to be alive.
I later learned that D's father had recently passed away earlier this year. It's just he and his mother alone who is also living with injuries.
I was impressed with the young man's composure and bravery as well as his mothers dedication to her son who was first on scene and hasn't left his side since.
Good people are often too proud to ask and don't want to put anyone out for help. I can speak from experience how much it can mean and how far the kindness of strangers can go.
Everyday I'm often sickened by the horrors around us that we're powerless to do much about.
In this particular instance, I do have the ability to try and help these people so I will. If you are able to contribute any amount at all as a personal favor to me, I would appreciate it.
Let RageFan "D" and his mom know we have their back with this gesture of support.
Thank you
