Help Raghu and Gajanan to build shelter
Hello Everyone,
My name is Vinayak shanbhag; I'm fundraising for my cousins who have poor eyesight (near-blind) due to genetic disorders.
Their background:
My cousins lost their father in their childhood, and their mother (my aunt) took care of them till she passed away a few months ago due to her long-standing health issues. Her only fixed source of income was the government allocated pensions for the widow and disabled (below 3k INR - 40$).
I'm sad to say this; my aunt protected her near-blind children throughout her life but failed to teach them how to live or lead a life without her! She tried her best till her last breath to secure their life, but it doesn't seem she succeeded.
It's excruciating to know they depend on someone else for food, not because they can't afford it's because they can't go out to buy groceries or cook on their own due to their poor vision. For the last two months, neighbors and relatives are kind enough to provide food essentials to live, but I don't think that's a sustainable solution.
The house they live in is in an awful state, which may fall anytime during the heavy rainy season; better shelter is an immediate need. I'm sure they are eligible for some government schemes, but it may be hard for them to benefit from the Indian complex system unless some elected member(s) takes the initiative to help out.
I always knew social media is compelling and can change someone's life but never experienced anything of that sort till I requested help for my cousins on Facebook. I was so amazed to see lots of helping hands have come forward to help and support. We've already made arrangements for their food and collected 75K INR (~ 1000 $) for a shelter. However, we may need 400K INR (5500$) to build a bare minimum of 1 bedroom house on a rough estimate.
