Help Raise £1000 In Memory Of John Hamnett

Donation protected

On the 2nd of April 2020,
We lost our beloved Father, John Hamnett.
Our Dad had a very up and down life, he was adopted as a baby, to amazing parents Allan Hamnett and Barbra Hamnett, who he was loved by and cared for amazingly, even lucky enough to live on the luxurious island of Mauritius. Sadly he lost his Mum at 18, and things never quite remained the same as it took a huge toll on his life.

Unfortunately, from there he fought with many different addictions to try and suppress the pain he held inside over the loss of his Mum. Sadly, alcohol became the main addiction and started a spiral of events.

During the 16 years with my Mum, Angela Leigh, he was constantly up and down with these addictions but ended up with 3 beautiful children in Jamie Hamnett , myself (Ben Hamnett) and Alex Hamnett, nicknaming us JayJay Cotcher, Benbo Biggins, and AlexiBoo. No matter how hard Dad fell, he would always let us know he loved us so deeply and never failed to show us his love and emotion for us, even in his dying days.

My Dad lived on his own for the last years of his short life. In which he became so mentally ill, going through things no-one should ever have to whilst living alone, although we as his sons always reminded him we had his back, it couldn’t quite make up for the times he was sat alone in his flat hearing horrible things from the demons he faced, forcing him to drink from morning to night none stop to try and ease what was going on.

Some may see our Dad as just another alcoholic, but in reality he was a funny, warm-hearted and smart man who just needed some answers, never even knowing who his real Father was, never really knowing who he was himself and never understanding why the bad thoughts wouldn’t go away. Sadly he will never know them answers, but will continue tohave an amazing life with Grandad Allan and Grandma Barbra.

Alcoholism is a very severe illness that doesn’t get shown the recognition that it should, alcoholics don’t drink because they like the taste, there’s alwaysdeeper reasons, ones it may take years for them to know. I hope our story helps others who are going through a similar thing, please always make sure your close ones are okay.

We ask for any small donations to put towards our Dads funeral costs. We aren’t setting a crazy target as we don’t expect it.

From all of your loved ones John, Dad, we love you unlimited amounts and you will always hold a special place in our hearts❤️
