Help raise funds for kidney transplant

Why we're asking for help:

Hi everyone, we are raising money for our cousin's daughter, Bimalka, who is diagnosed with Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). She has been fighting with this disease for several years and it has progressed to the point of requiring a kidney transplant. She plans to start dialysis in 3 months while she waits to raise the funds to have the transplant surgery.

 

Who is Bimalka:

Bimalka is 22 years old and lives in Maharagama, Sri Lanka with her parents, brother, and sister, whom she loves very much. She attended Maharagama Vidyakara Girls School and is actively pursuing an online diploma in Human Resources. She dreams of growing old with her siblings and starting a family of her own one day. Bimalka is a talented artist and loves capturing the beauty of nature in her work.    

 

Where will the money go:

All raised funds will go directly to Bimalka's family to cover the cost of the procedure (hospital bill attached below) and the cost of finding a donor kidney. The hospital is charging just over 2 million Sri Lankan Rupees (~$10,000 USD) for the procedure and an additional 3 million Sri Lankan Rupees ($15,000 USD) for donor costs. Given her family's financial situation, we're doing all we can to help her get this done.
