HELP A NATIVE WOMAN GET TRANSPORTATION! JOB-HOUSING AT RISK!
Ya'at'teeh,
I'm Elayne D. a 33-year-old Navajo woman and pharmacy technician living in Southern Arizona. I'm reaching out in a moment of urgent need. Two weeks ago, my car's transmission failed, leaving me without reliable transportation in the brutal Arizona heat. Last summer, I took out a $3,000 auto repair loan, which has now doubled despite my consistent payments. This financial burden is crushing me.
I depend on my car not just for work, but for my very livelihood. The pharmacy where I work isn’t on public transportation routes, and without my vehicle, I risk losing my job and my housing. The high costs of ride shares and limited options are pushing me to a breaking point.
Living alone has intensified my struggle. I’m responsible for picking up my diabetic father's medication from the local IHS, a 30-minute drive that I can no longer make. I haven’t been able to return to my homelands on the Navajo Nation since last Christmas, and the isolation is overwhelming. I feel a deep obligation to ensure my father has what he needs for his well-being, but I’m running out of options.
Reliable used cars in my area range from $13,000 to $17,000, and I also need funds for taxes, insurance, and other fees as well as using what is left over to pay off the loan I took out last summer that is currently garnishing my wages and as damaged my credit. I’m in a dire situation, and any contribution, no matter how small, would be a lifeline for me.
Your generosity could truly change my life at this critical moment.
Thank you for considering my urgent call for community support it truly means everything to me. I will keep you all updated as my situation unfolds.
Ahéhee!
