Help raise funds for Nicola’s stem cell therapy

Hi everyone I’m Rachel, Nicola’s sister in law. As a family we are devastated about Nicola’s recent diagnosis of osteoporosis which has unfortunately ruled out the possibility of a life saving lung transplant. Nicola is on a constant supply of oxygen to enable her to breathe.

Nicola has suffered with Rheumatoid arthritis and then Interstitial lung disease since 2010.

Due to the constant need for steroids to treat these diseases it has caused osteoporosis. Nicola is now suffering with rib fractures and lower spine fractures. This means the transplant is not an option as she may not survive the operation. We had all our hopes pinned on her getting the transplant.

We are absolutely heartbroken as you can imagine. She will be 52 on her birthday and seeing her breathless and in such pain is so upsetting.

As this is such a life limiting prognosis we are looking into stem cell therapy as a final option but it’s not available through the NHS. It’s around £300 for an initial consultation and then then prices start at upwards of £15k for treatment.

We would like to raise as much as possible to help Nicola.

If the treatment is not an option then I’m sure any donations made would help Nicola be as comfortable as she can be for as long as she has left.
