Help raise money to offset monthly & medical bills

This is our son, Michael and his wife Samii. Our son has been dealing with headaches and migraines for quite some time now. This last year they have gotten severe enough to where he was placed on medication. He has spent several occasions in the emergency room with severe headaches and always just sent home with a change in dosage or a cocktail to control it.

These last 3-4 months he has had some other symptoms ranging from blackouts, loss of memory, direction, or coordination. He was beginning to think he had the early onset on dementia.

On Saturday, December 16th he was found about 45 miles from home and had no sense as how he got there or where he was at. He was taken to the ER and after running tests a CT scan revealed a brain tumor in the back of his head as well as brain swelling from the tumor.

He was later transferred to Sparrow Hospital where he underwent additional scans. The MRI confirmed he had a Meningioma brain tumor. This type of tumor is typically benign and slow growing. Based on the size of the tumor they believe he has had it for about 7 years. This tumor is now the size of an apple and pressing against his brain stem which makes the removal life threatening.

There are no guarantees they will be able to remove it all due to causing damage to the brain stem. If this is the case he will need to undergo radiation and/or chemo.

Because of the complexity of the surgery he was transferred to U of M hospital in Ann Arbor. He is scheduled for surgery on December 27th and due to the complexity of the surgery, it will take 14-16 hours to complete. After surgery he will spend another 5 days in the hospital and another 4-6 weeks recovering.

His wife is currently taking a LOA from work so that she can be by his side during this time and assist with any medical needs once he returns home during his recovery.

All money raised will go toward living expenses during his recovery and any medical bills he may incur.
