Help Raja Find Peace After 11 Years of Love

Donation protected

In 2013, I found my best friend in a Craigslist ad for free kittens. I met a man in a mall parking lot and a little boy walked straight to me out of his kennel. I named him Raja.

Raja has been through so many things with me in his eleven years. He finished undergrad with me, moved to Florida with me to go to grad school, and got a sister while there.

He flew to Seattle to live with me, flew back to Mississippi to stay with my parents through a life transition, and drove to our final home in Kansas City.

Through every large life moment, Raja has been by my side. He's slept on my desk while I worked on my master's thesis. He has sat on my back as I've cried into my pillow, and he's been there to comfort me through some of my hardest depression moments. Raja and his sister have been the light guiding me through every struggle in my life. My goal has always been to give them everything I possibly could and provide a safe and stable life for them.

Recently, Raja went to the emergency room because he wasn't eating, was struggling to make it to the litter box, and could barely hold up his body weight and walk. They gave him multiple blood transfusions and injections, and he luckily stabilized and was able to come home. But his blood cells aren't cooperating, and his condition is deteriorating again.

I've tried everything we could to treat him. After multiple transfusions and tests, I now have a balance of $7,190 and no answers or treatment options. The vet has given me options, and we can continue to do more invasive testing that would require surgery and anesthesia but may not give us answers and may worsen his condition. Or I can consider what's best for him and his quality of life.

Now, a decision has come that I didn't think I would have to make for many more years. It's time to give Raja what he has given me for eleven years - peace.

I'm asking for help to pay the $7,190 balance that I didn't plan for and help me focus on helping him pass and letting me grieve without the additional financial stress.

I appreciate everyone who has given so much love to Raja throughout his life.

Here are his records and receipts from what we've done with some personal information redacted.
