Help Ralph Steve's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
I come to you with a heavy heart to share some difficult news about my beloved son, Ralph Steve. While riding bikes with friends, Ralph was hit by a 1992 Ford F-150 pick up truck that drove through the crosswalk. Ralph was resuscitated on the scene. He was then airlifted to the John Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center in Baltimore. There he underwent five hours of life-saving surgery.
Ralph is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at John Hopkins Children’s Hospital. Ralph is being treated for brain bruising with bleeding, punctured lungs from broken ribs, a right broken femur, tibia and left ankle fractures. As well as multiple spinal injuries and additional organ damage.
Ralph is on a ventilator that is currently supporting his lungs. He is currently in critical condition. Although he is stable, Ralph was required to be put in a medically induced coma. With additional surgeries scheduled for the next couple of weeks.
It is extremely hard for me to express the ups and downs I have felt in the last few days. My brilliant, 12-year-old son is a fighter! Ralph has always been an animated, tender, loving child, who lights up rooms and leaves a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Ralph is a fighter and has been strong throughout this whole unbelievably difficult ordeal. Your support, prayers and encouragement has been invaluable. Family and friends, if you find it in your hearts and are looking to support, we are accepting donations. No donation is too small because it will all be contributed to Ralph's road to recovery. Please continue to send your well wishes and prayers! As we focus on the road to recovery, the associated expenses we anticipate include:
•Out of pocket medical expenses
•Out of pocket physical therapy additions
•Lost wages due to inability to work as I am, and will continue to be Ralph’s primary caregiver
•Moving Expenses due to Ralph’s anticipated needs…. Which would include the following
*Home modification and equipment
*Accessibility modifications (platform lifts, ramps)
*Bathroom modifications (walk-in tub/shower with bench, roll-under sink)
•Transportation equipment
•Equipment that will support his continued health and any functional restoration (robotics, adaptive technologies)
