Help Ramy escape to safety and reunite with his family
Donation protected
Hi lovely people. My name is Kathryn Westall (from Huntington Beach, CA) and I started this campaign on behalf of Ramy Al-Yazji, a 19-year-old young man currently living in Gaza who urgently needs our help.
Earlier this year Ramy launched a campaign, with the help of Moneyless Society, to get his family safely across the border into Egypt. He succeeded but unfortunately wasn't able to raise enough money to go with them.
So, he stayed behind, focusing on raising funds for his 10-year-old sister's hydrocephalus treatment and supporting his family's living expenses as they lost their income due to the conflict. Now, after enduring months alone, displaced, and living in a tent, Ramy has reached a critical point where he needs our help to escape the dangerous situation he finds himself in, as the conflict continues to escalate.

A little bit about Ramy:
Before the conflict, Ramy was a sophomore studying engineering at Al-Azhar University, which has now been destroyed in the bombings. He played football on the Al-Hilal club team and has dreams of continuing to play. He's the eldest son of a loving family, with two sisters and one brother, and wants nothing more than to be reunited with them.
As is the case with many families currently surviving in Gaza, a significant amount of his family members have been killed since the beginning of the conflict, including his grandmother, grandfather, aunt and her husband, their 4 children, as well as his uncle and his children.
Ramy has a kind heart and cares deeply about others, putting them before himself. Getting to know Ramy has been an honor and he has become like a brother to me. I hope you can see him as your brother or son as well.
With your support, we can make a tangible difference in Ramy's life. Your donations will directly go towards the cost of his escape to safety and anything extra will go towards living expenses and ongoing medical care for his sister. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings him one step closer to rebuilding his life and reuniting with his family. Thank you for your generosity.
*As you may know, the Rafah border is currently closed, but we are hopeful that it will reopen in the near future so we can get Ramy to safety.*
**UPDATE: Thank you so incredibly much to everyone who has donated to and supported Ramy's campaign! A few updates:
Since we began this campaign, Ramy has unfortunately been diagnosed with Hepatitis C due to contaminated drinking water. Because of the lack of medical resources currently in Gaza, treatment is limited to some IVs and a diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, and honey, which you may know are very difficult to find (and if they are available, they are very expensive).

In addition to this, Ramy's sister Ghazal is still undergoing treatment for her hydrocephalus and the complications that come with that. She has fortunately received the surgery she needed and is still recovering from the operation.

Ramy's parents are currently living in Egypt with no income as they lost their livelihoods due to the conflict. Your support will help them make ends meet, feed their family, pay for rent, and pay for any unexpected expenses that might emerge.
We are so grateful for your continued support. Thank you all for being here for Ramy and his family during this desperate and unbearable time. Together, we can make this difficult time more manageable.
