100 Miles To Help Randad Fight Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends, it's very hard to write this out; it somehow makes it seem more real, but a lot of people have been asking how they can help, so I got the idea to walk 100 miles this month for a cause very important and personal to me.
Here goes…
On March 8th, my dad (known to most of you as Randad) was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Since then, it's been a blur of hospitalizations, doctor visits, and so much unknown and fear.
I want to walk 100 miles in the month of April to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer and to help offset unexpected costs for my parents. Anyone who wants to sponsor my cause - I will post photos of my journey here and promise that any donations will 100% go towards covering his medical bills and lost income due to his surgeries and chemo. I will also make a personal donation to the National Cancer Society and link that back here to this page on May 1st.
The fact is that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, and thats why I wanted to do this challenge and help to support him in this time of unknowns.
Thankfully, he is in the care of an amazing A+ cancer center in Tampa, FL called Moffitt Cancer Center, where his doctor believes that he is a good candidate for an operation to remove the tumor with a procedure called a WHIPPLE. This is scheduled for April 22. The Whipple involves resecting the tumor by removing the head of the pancreas where the cancer is, the first part of the small intestine, the gallbladder, and the bile duct, along with all lymph nodes. This is an 8-10 hour surgery with multiple oncology surgeons performing it. Afterward, his body will need to relearn how to digest food; he will be in the hospital for a long time, and he will need lifelong supplements. The doctors say he will likely not be able to return to work or lift more than a gallon of milk for months.
After the procedure, it's then months of chemo and radiation; altogether, they are projecting 10 months of treatments.
I've created this in my name so that I can pass any $ to him after I complete my 100-mile challenge. You can also Venmo me or send any way that works for you, and I will make sure that it gets to his amazing wife (my beautiful mom) and directly to help pay for her hotels near the hospital and towards his treatments and incurred costs while out of work.
Please consider sponsoring me by making a donation if you are able. Please pray for his recovery and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. <3
