Help Rapidan Dam Store’s tragic loss

On the overnight hours on June 24th, 2024, the Hruska family experienced the most horrific tragedy. The Rapidan Dam experienced a partial failure which jeopardized the lifetime home of the Hruska family and their famous Rapidan Dam Store.

As of today’s date, the Hruska family lost their residence to the Blue Earth River and from the looks of it, the Rapidan Dam Store is next. The collapse of the bank has destroyed their residence, park, and swept away lifetime of memories down the river.

The Rapidan Dam Store not only is a local staple but a national recognized staple.

On June 25th, 2024 the Hruska family was notified the insurance company did not cover the loss of their home due to being a landslide. The Rapidan Dam Store was the families source of income since 1972 when Jim Hruska bought the store and is a lasting legacy. The “best dam pie,” “best dam burgers,” and “best dam site” will be greatly missed by all. We are asking for anyone to assist in supporting the Hruska family during this tragic time and donate what you can. The family will not only need continued love, support, and prayers but also monetary donations to help rebuild their life in another location.

The Rapidan Dam and Dam Store have been apart of so many family memories for visitors and now it is time to support the family that lost everything. We would like to thank the kind hearted local community, Blue Earth County Sheriffs Office, Xcel Energy and everyone who has come to assist the family during this difficult time.
