Help rare Timor Pony survive, pay vet fees
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Janet and I'm raising funds for the Timor Pony mare Indira. There are only a handful of Timor Ponies in captivity left in Australia. They're exceedingly rare, facing extinction.
Indira is one of the few registered Timor Pony mares. She recently gave birth to a filly foal, Ningrum, sired by Timor Pony stallion - Snowy Balios- the first foal in three years for this breed and the first filly in a decade. You can follow her journey (and events and information on the breed) on the Timor Pony facebook page.
Ningrum was born weak and required veterinary care, and Indira quickly developed a temperature after birth - daily vet visits have been neccessary as her uterus was infected. She's been flushed twice and put on medication including anti-biotics. The vet care is ongoing until Indira fully recovers. She's an outstanding Mum, all her waking moments are dedicated to her precious foal and Ningrum is now thriving
We hope to raise the vet costs through fundraising.
Any funds raised above the amount of vet fees, at present at the $4,000 mark, will be kept by by the breeder for the Timor Pony Project, which involves academic and practical ways to save the breed from extinction. Please give if you can afford it, to save Indira, and save the breed, thank you.
This reimbursement of running costs will enable us to continue making other things available towards preservation of the breed, such as:
* continue collecting semen and making this available at low cost to approved mares
* continue towards AI of difficult to breed mares
* give us encouragement and stamina to continue in our pursuits to obtain wild caught ponies from Cobourg
*make our work worthwhile
We cannot do this on our own and encourage anybody for a love of this pony to contribute. Your money will not be wasted. Please follow us on (link to Timor Pony Facebook page)
