This question is at the center of my new film C U Next Tuesday.
Are we living an authentic life? How aware are we of our consciousness in the age of cellphone displays and social media?
Many of us, especially the younger people, gradually lose our grip on reality and live an alternative, virtual life constructed by the five-second world that satisfies only our fundamental shallow instincts. Moreover, the accumulation of images attacking us from every corner and every inch of our lives creates a kind of visual pollution. This smog draws a veil over our eyes and deteriorates reality.
When young men face this gap between the fantasy world and the actuality, which is much duller, they are left with very few choices, some of them highly detrimental.
C U, Next Tuesday, the script has made it to the semi-final of the HollyShort Festival, the semi-final of Outstanding Screenplays, and so far got very positive reviews from Slamdance Festival. The story follows the story of the 20-year-old Adam Holden, who, for some unknown reason, has spent the night at the beach. While walking on the beach and sending photos and videos on social media for friends to see. Adam suddenly sees an attractive girl on the beach in the middle of waves and mist. Adam instantly tries to make a connection, but with the girl's rejection, the interaction gradually gets intense with no return. However, we'll soon find out that Adam has other agendas.
