Help Rebecca travel home for urgent medical care
Donation protected
My name is Fiona and I am fundraising to get my daughter Rebecca back to Ireland for the medical support she needs. In 2022, while living in Australia she was diagnosed with a rare condition called hypoganglionosis for which there is no known cure.
Her condition has gotten progressively worse since her diagnosis. She is only 29 years old has been bed ridden for over a year, has an irreversible stoma and is malnourished, as she cannot eat in order to provide her body with the nutrients it needs. She is in almost constant pain and vomiting most days. The pain relief prescribed does not do anything for her.
As there is no cure, her medical team are only trying to treat her symptoms. In October 2024, I went to Australia with the intention of making her funeral arrangements. She is still with us, thank God but I am overwhelmed by the reality of her circumstances and cannot leave her there. She has been in hospital since the end of September 2024 with a team of professionals including palliative care looking after her. However, they cannot provide the one on one care she needs.
As I'm sure you'll agree nobody can give greater care than a mother to her child and that's why I want to bring her home. Even when you are ill yourself you just want your mammy.
Rebecca needs medical support from ICU doctors while travelling which will cost €55,400 so I am asking for your help with this. EMS Air Ambulance charge a fee of €27,600 to organise everything including discharge from the hospital in Australia and admission to the hospital in Ireland. The flight costs for Rebecca and the double medical team will cost €27,800.
Thank you in advance for your support and please don't forget to share this link to your contacts. And remember every little helps even €1.
