Help Rebuild Covy Rock Free Will Baptist Church

Donation protected
On Friday, September 27th, hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina and left complete destruction in its path. Many lost loved ones, homes and businesses.

Like many others in the community, Covy Rock Free Will Baptist Church, of Green Mountain, experienced complete devastation. The Toe River rose to unprecedented levels and engulfed our beloved church. Covy Rock has $100,000 of coverage, which sadly, will not come close to the repairs or complete reconstruction that will need to happen.

We come to you today to humbly ask if you are unable to give monetarily during this time, we just hope that you will pray and share our story. This is not just a story of loss, but a story of perseverance and faith that God has even bigger plans for us.

This year, Covy Rock celebrated its 115th year founded by the Hughes, Peterson, and Bailey families. Just this past month, our pastor Marvin Hensley, celebrated his 50th year since he was called to preach in our very own church of Covy Rock. Pastor Marvin’s grandfather attended Covy Rock at the time. Our oldest, longest member, Bernie(Frank) Deyton, passed away this year at the age of 91, who had great-grandchildren in the church. Covy Rock has generations of family history deep-seated in the church with members teaching their very own children and grandchildren how great God is.

Covy Rock has seen such growth over the years and now consists of almost half children, who are depending on us to continue leading them to Christ and growing in faith. Our youth director has dedicated her life to our youth and made Covy Rock feel like home to so many children.

In such a time as this, please pray- pray for our mountains, churches, and loved ones. Pray for our schools and teachers, along with medical personnel. We as a community can show the world that when you remain faithful and work together, you can recover and come back stronger.

Keep praying. Keep the faith. We are “God’s Country”.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:2

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah”
