Bringing Hope back to Jay and Mary

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my dear uncle Jay and his wife Mary, who have experienced an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss. Like so many others devastated by the Palisades fire, they have lost everything.

Their beloved home of 30 years was completely destroyed. In an instant, they were forced to evacuate with only the clothes on their backs, a few toiletries, and a change of clothes. A lifetime of memories—family photos, keepsakes, and personal belongings—was reduced to ashes. The walls that once held decades of love, laughter, and comfort are now gone.

Jay and Mary are heartbroken, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to move forward. In their 80s, they are now faced with the unimaginable task of starting over, something no one should have to endure, especially at this stage of life. They don't know where to begin, and the road ahead feels impossibly difficult.

Because GoFundMe asks for the following information, my name is Emily. I grew up in Los Angeles, and Jay is my uncle. Growing up, some of my fondest childhood memories were visiting his home in the Palisades during the holidays and exploring the village with my brothers and cousins. That house was filled with warmth and love—a true family home that is now lost.

While much of what they've lost can be replaced, the irreplaceable pieces of their lives—their memories, their sense of home—are gone forever.
