Ashes to Action - Khue’s Kitchen Comeback

Hey everyone, two years ago I started this journey in a ghost kitchen tucked away in a massive maze of a building. If you told me after two years I’d have the opportunity to have my own brick and mortar, I would’ve said you’re dreaming. But some dreams really do come true.

When the space for Ngon Bistro opened up on University Ave in St. Paul, I knew this was the space I could see myself growing into. My team, family, and I worked day and night to get this restaurant off the ground and into the public’s hands the past several weeks. As the summer months passed by and August neared, more and more peoples’ lives became intertwined with the opening day of Khue’s Kitchen in St. Paul. After months of team training, menu finalizations, and license filings, we were on the cusp of being ready for August 27th, Friends & Family Day.

Very recently, on August 11th, an electrical fire in the dining room ripped through our new tables and furnished bar. The fire traveled upstairs into our upper floor and became an uncontrollable inferno. By the time mom, dad, and I got to the restaurant, the ceilings in the dining room and kitchen gave way and there was nothing left to salvage.

With your support, I’d like to help my team, who spent countless hours creating a unique dining experience, and replace their personal tools and equipment that made these ideas a reality. Lastly, I want to thank the St. Paul Fire Department as they tirelessly and courageously fought the fire, doing their best to save the building from collapsing entirely. We are extremely grateful no one sustained injuries throughout the fire’s destructive course.
