Help Rebuild Lahaina with Natural Earthen Homes!

Donation protected

Aloha! As some of you may know, I have dedicated the past 20 years to promoting the natural building movement where it's most needed. Years ago, I was involved in a project in Oakland called Cob on Wood where we built structures out of pallets covered in an Earthen Cob plaster to serve the residents of the homeless encampment. We had to move the structures truce with a forklift.

I am currently on Maui working to introduce this technique of sustainable natural building to a property in Lahaina that was burned in the fire last year. I am hoping this initial project will help to serve as a model that will inspire other earthen homes to be built in Lahaina. There is an incredible opportunity to demonstrate alternative building practices now in Lahaina, utilizing materials that are low cost, non-toxic, fire resilient, locally sourced all natural, beautiful and which engages the community in the building process. Since there is much interest in how Lahaina recovers from the tragedy that occurred last year, this project has the potential to make a huge impact in propelling the natural building movement forward.

Any contributions will go towards materials needed for the project to make it a successful demonstration model for what's possible. Thanks so much for your interest in this project, and we will share progress reports as the building moves forward.
