Help Rebuild Lives After Surfside SC Tragedy
Donation protected
Dear friends,
My name is Amber, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart on behalf of my mother and her dear friend, who have recently endured a terrifying and traumatic ordeal.
On the night of Thursday, September 12th, my mother and her friend were sitting in her home in Surfside, SC, quietly watching television, when her ex-boyfriend suddenly forced his way into the house. He was armed with two guns and duct tape and held them both at gunpoint. In an act of sheer courage and desperation, they managed to escape, running to a neighbor’s house for help as he pursued them. Tragically, while fleeing, my mother’s friend was shot in the hip and has already undergone two surgeries. The neighbor who tried to help was also shot as they sought refuge in her home.
After this, the man returned to my mother’s house, where he barricaded himself inside and fired repeatedly, leaving bullet holes in nearly every wall. In a horrifying act, he also cut the gas line, attempting to blow up the house. This nightmare only ended after a standoff with police, and after hours of fear and violence, he was arrested and now faces over a dozen charges.
While I am grateful beyond words that my mother and her friend are alive, they are left deeply shaken—emotionally, physically, and financially. Her home, once a place of safety, is riddled with bullet holes. Her furniture, television, and personal belongings have been destroyed. On top of this, her friend is recovering from his gunshot wound under her care, and they have both been unable to return to work since the incident. With mounting medical bills and home repair costs, their burdens feel overwhelming.
I am humbly asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us. All contributions will go directly toward covering medical bills, repairing the damages to her home, and providing some much-needed financial relief while they recover.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer. Your kindness and generosity will help them begin the long process of healing.
With sincere gratitude,
Amber
