Help Rebuild Lives After Tragic Boston Fire
Donation protected
I'm at a loss for words on how to begin this without crying. On October 29th, 2024, around 4 AM, my grandmother's home was engulfed in flames in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood. Firefighters responded to extinguish the flames and evacuate all of my family members inside. A total of 4 adults and 3 children were displaced. Unfortunately, my 16-year-old cousin, Mario Evans, was trapped inside.
Being the smart young man he was, he took cover from the heavy, thick smoke under a blanket, like he was taught in school. He was rushed to the ER at Brigham and Women's Hospital Boston. While en route to the ED, his heart stopped a total of 3 times. Medical individuals were able to resuscitate him, and he was then placed on a ventilator in hopes for his body to recover. Unfortunately, with a very heavy heart, his injuries became fatal, and he succumbed to his injuries.
Mario Evans, a very bubbly, smart, autistic young man, was taken from us way too young. He was always so helpful and yearned to learn as much as he could. He touched the lives of so many who got the chance to know him. His favorite holiday was Halloween, and he planned on being Super Mario this year. He always looked forward to getting his grandma and papi ready for bed every night. He found pleasures in the simplicity of things and knew how to be the life of the party.
Heaven gained an unexpected angel, but God gained an incredible and passionate soul.
Due to the fire, my family lost their home. The fire caused about $100,000 to $150,000 worth of damage, according to Boston Fire District Chief, Eric Vinitsky.
Per the family's request, he is donating his heart and all functioning organs, as he would've loved to give someone in need a chance at life—full of spirit and joy.
My family has been through many losses, but this is one that is very hard to bear. At this time, they are currently facing thousands of dollars in medical bills, housing, and funeral costs.
Please repost and help in any way you can. God bless.
