Help Rebuild Lives on Pinellas Barrier Islands
Donation protected
We are Pinellas County Barrier Island locals. While we experienced loss from Hurricane Helene, this fundraiser is not for our personal use. We are using it to purchase supplies, groceries, and other items needed for neighbors hardest hit. We personally put in the first $1000 into this GFM. Funds are being used for items such as groceries for retired seniors who lost their food/kitchens, offering residents access to food/water while they work on home remediation/clean up efforts or to cover emergency items or repairs not covered by insurance. For example, we gave several Redington Shores and Madeira Beach residents in difficult financial situations supermarket gift certificates this week. While there are other charity resources, the people contributing to this grassroots fundraiser are friends that personally know us and trust our judgement to use this money wisely. We can also often react more quickly. My family is driving through neighborhoods and asking how we can help. People in the community are also reaching out to us with information on the people most struggling so we can possible help. We are tracking all expenses and can report to anyone who is interested how all funds are spent with full transparency.
While we are not currently a non profit, we hope to file for non profit status this year and continue this work well beyond Hurricane Helene. Thank you.
