Help Rebuild Middle Tennessee Pomskies
Donation protected
My sister's family, along with our parents, started breeding beautiful Pomsky puppies in 2014. The quality of their puppies and their commitment to their dogs, puppies and owners are a testament of their love for this amazing breed. Our hearts are heavy today as we process a monumental tragedy that occurred at Middle Tennessee Pomskies last night. Four sweet puppies lost their lives, as the entire nursery building was engulfed in smoke and fire, resulting in the loss of not only the puppies but all of the equipment, medications, and entire inside furnishings, wallboard, ceiling, flooring, wiring, heat and air conditioning etc. of the building.
In their words:
"A little after 7pm, I received a text message from my neighbor, asking if everything was ok. They could see smoke from our property. I immediately ran to the back and found our puppy nursery on fire. Smoke was everywhere. I yelled for Jennifer Leigh to get Adam as I desperately tried to get the door open. My niece, Jennifer, and Dave Peterson ran to the side to begin pulling our adult dogs from the side. Adam Jacob Smith yelled for the hose as he ran out, I ran to turn the faucet on at my parents house. The neighbor called from over the fence “what can I do?!?”. “Call 911!!!”
From there it is a blur. A few things that stand out to me:
-Our 16 year old son, Campbell moving cars, lifting our trailer and dragging it by himself out of the way, calling 911, finding him hugging his siblings and trying to comfort them.
-A brother’s hug as I sobbed after finding my sweet puppies didn’t make it.
-Adam working tirelessly to keep the fire at bay. Stopping anyone from entering the building as the ceiling fell in.
-A neighbor willing to run into the building to save what he could and willing to offer a stranger a shoulder to lean on.
-A sister who took control of the little kids and made sure they were ok.
-Nieces that stepped in to distract my littles and David’s as we figure out what needed to be done.
-Grandparents, working tirelessly to settle displaced animals and check on kiddos.
-Firemen and a Sheriff that were so compassionate and did all they could to help us. Including being willing to call our kids school to get today excused (iykyk how difficult it is to do that).
We are heartbroken over this incredible loss. Our puppies were a part of our family and loved.
I can’t thank everyone enough who stepped in last night. Today, though incredibly sad, we feel blessed. We have seen more businesses and families step in as they find out what happened. We are processing. There is a lot of work to be done, but we are resilient and not afraid of hard work."
