Help rebuild my classroom after Hurricane Ida
Donation protected
Hi, I am Kristy McDaniel, a teacher for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities at Jefferson Elementary School in Jefferson, Louisiana.
On Sunday August 29th, 2021, Southern Louisiana was hit by Hurricane Ida. In addition to rain and wind damage, the storm caused catastrophic transmission damage to Louisiana’s electrical system, leaving over a million utility customers without power.
In the midst of all the chaos and tragedy that hit our state, a tree from our school playground fell on the roof above my classroom. When maintenance came to assess the site, they said the rain poured in over two feet of water damaging all of my classroom.
Thrown out was 24 years worth of teaching materials. I am devastated. Coming to school, which is normally a place I love, now brings me to tears.
I need your help to recreate the amazing learning environment I had in place before the storm. I will spend 100% of donated funds on supplies and materials for my students, getting my classroom the way it was.
Thank you so much in advance for your support! I also have an Amazon wishlist, if you would like to donate to that instead.
