Help Rebuild Our Beloved Flood Gallery in WNC

The Flood Gallery Fine Art Center its Black Mountain Press located in Swannanoa, Western North Carolina have been destroyed by Hurricane Helene. As a previous employee of the press, I am putting together this fundraiser on behalf of owner Carlos Steward who has lost his livelihood in the storm and, while safe, remains without cell service and running water.

The gallery was a truly special community space that brought together all walks of life to celebrate something that connects us all—the arts. Hosting artist-residency programs, running public events, workshops, and educational activities, the Flood Gallery sought to make art a vital part of life in WNC. The Black Mountain Press published poetry, collections of short stories, and creative novels by emerging writers.

The losses we’ve suffered due to the hurricane can’t be put into words. Our community is hurting. Please consider supporting the Flood Gallery to help us recover & rebuild after this tragedy. Funds will go to founder Carlos Steward as he purchases supplies and finds a new location for our beloved gallery. Thank you for anything you’re able to contribute.
