The Little Salon That Should Go On

My Name is Paul Grundman,

My Parents Lost their home, my childhood home in the Palisades Fire.

My Mother and Father-in-Law lost their business " Le Studio". Thankfully, my parents have some insurance but my in-laws? a bare minimum. They cannot rebuild, they were on month to month basis rental, the landlord wouldn't honor them with even a lease. They were very difficult as well.

Le Studio was previously known as Peter & Alexia, as both of them are stylists. They have been owners of their salon in the Palisades at various locations in town since 1972. Peter was cutting my fathers hair for 20 years before I met my wife. Like a small town, in a big city.

Some years ago, Peter & Alexia, lost one of their daughters ... and Celeste lost her sister ; to a tragic head on collision on PCH.

Their youngest , Sabrina , was only 17. Driving to school one morning. This person crossed over the median , whom was substance altered, and killed her.

I met Celeste and her parents about 2yrs after this happened. To see them rise from ashes after ashes is nothing short of inspiring. To be frank, It is hard to write these things without getting emotional. It is hard to ask for help to be honest with you all, but this is real and this is now.

To add insult to injury, they were aggressively conned by a crafty expert , and lost their residence. This wasn't a scam phone call, this was face to face, corner office, Ferraris, paper work , this human is disgusting. In the aftermath, they were forced to move elsewhere, the catch was that it was 80 miles away.

So they kept their Salon in the Palisades, but have had to drive nearly 200 miles per work day. This is their home, their customer base. The base thats also been displaced now.

They are not young, spry, I'm not even sure they've had a vacation in the 20+ years I've known them, maybe once for 5 days. They still work as hard as ever though, and they will continue to do so.

What they need desperately now, is the ability to bridge financially during this time. To help with crucial tools that are expensive they amassed over time , to rebuy some of these things will be impossible without your help.

Peter & Alexia are first generation immigrants from France & Hungary. They met at the ice rink in Santa Monica, they were wed at the courthouse in malibu.

Like a small town , in a big city.

Anytime you walked into Le Studio, someone could be carrying on in one of the chairs while Peter or Alexia were fast at work focusing on their client , but also doing double duty as their personal therapist , or just be there as an ear to you.

They are old school. They love with open arms , whats theirs is yours. You need help? they're always there. Thats why I am here today to put my reputation and name, to stand behind them and ask you to please help a good family , a good business that was eradicated by this fire. A fire that leveled most of the town while " some others" were protected by private fire companies with no interest in any of the towns heart and soul. Okay maybe its a bit dramatic, Maybe I am mad about this, Its been the hardest thing to see happen to a town . My home .

So please, help with what you can and remember, I thank you, Peter, Alexia and Celeste thank you. The entire family that is their clients , and my parents thank you too.
