Support the Artiaga Family After the Altadena Fires 

 It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the loss of the Artiaga family home in the Altadena fires. For 47 years, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert and Carolyn Artiaga made this house a home filled with love, warmth, and generosity. They moved into this home in 1977 and raised their four children, Rod, Derric, Chad, and Allison, within its walls. 

Over the years, their home became a place of joy and comfort for their grandchildren and countless others who were touched by their kindness. Mrs. Artiaga, affectionately known as one of the best teachers at Altadena Elementary, devoted her life to nurturing and educating children. Beginning her teaching career in 1971, she spent 43 years shaping young minds and watching so many children in our community grow up. After retiring in 2014, her dedication to others didn’t stop—she continued to teach and inspire through her community work and her steadfast commitment to her beloved church, Saint Elizabeth. The Artiaga family’s home was not just a shelter; it was a haven for anyone in need. Mrs. Artiaga was known for her open heart, offering hot meals and a warm place to stay for those who needed it most. This terrible fire has not only destroyed their home but also a cornerstone of love and support for our community. 

 The loss is immense—they have lost everything they’ve built and cherished over the past 47 years. As they face this unimaginable hardship, we are asking for your support. Let’s come together as a community, just as Mrs. Artiaga has done for so many of us, to help them move forward during this challenging time.
