Help Rebuild Samir Mansour Bookstore in Gaza

New Iqraa and Samir Mansour Bookshop are the newest victims of the attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces. What is considered to be two of the largest bookstores in Gaza have been completely destroyed in Israel's new effort to erase Palestinian culture and maintain the oppression of the Palestinian people. Attacks have targeted an ice cream factory, a high school, beach cafes, residential buildings, towers housing international media outlets and the only COVID testing facility. These attacks have been carried out with no impunity or regard to international humanitarian law.
Literacy is a fundamental human right , children and adults in all countries deserve this basic right. Getting access to decent, educational reading material when living under occupation is difficult however, these bookstores provided the people of Gaza with so much more beyond books. Connecting people who live under occupation and oppression to quality reading material is important, the violence and tragedy people in Gaza go through on the daily is unimaginable. Books may offer those who need it a brief mental escape or educational resources. Middle East Eye reported that 50 schools in Gaza have been damaged by Israeli bombardment, making it even harder for children to have access to educational resources.
