Help Rebuild the Old Marshall Jail and Zadie's Restaurant
Donation protected
The town of Marshall, like many others in the area, has been hit incredibly hard by Hurricane Helene. There was unprecedented flooding in the town, the worst in Marshall's recorded history by far. The French Broad River crested at 27 feet in the town of Marshall and the floodwater reached the second story of the Old Marshall Jail.
Zadie's was completely destroyed and the Old Marshall Jail Hotel was severely impacted. Both businesses will be closed for the months ahead while we rebuild. It will be a long and expensive road to recovery, but we feel it is worth doing and will be possible with your help.
The work that went into renovating the Old Jail over the course of five years has been a passion project and an homage to the history of this space and of the town. These are cornerstone businesses in the town of Marshall, employing upwards of 30 people and serving our community.
Our primary focus will be rebuilding and reopening. Additional funds will go into income relief for the whole team. We are aware that the damage from this hurricane has been widespread, and the need extends far beyond our town. It’s hard to ask for help, but if this space has ever touched your life in a positive way or brought joy into your world, and you are looking for a way to support the Old Marshall Jail, Zadie's, and our team, please consider contributing.
