Help Us Restore Our Family's Legacy After the Eaton Canyon Fire
Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts after an unimaginable loss. The recent Eaton Canyon fire tore through Altadena, California, devastating our neighborhood and taking away a central part of our lives: our family’s home.
This was not just a house—it was ancestral ground, the heart of our family’s story. Built on resilience, love, and history, it was where generations were raised, cherished memories were created, and the legacies of our loved ones were honored.
Our grandmother Pauline, a trailblazing woman, worked in the film industry as part of the production outfitting team and as a seamstress, contributing to iconic moments in Hollywood history.
In the 1950s, she moved from Los Angeles to Altadena and purchased this home as a single Black woman—a remarkable achievement for that time.
Here, she raised four children and built a foundation that supported generations our mother Geraldine, our two aunts Ilene and Donna, and our Uncle Charles and built a foundation that supported generations.
This home held more than family gatherings. It was where we said goodbye to our grandfather Leon, our grandmother Pauline, our mother Geraldine, and our father Leon. It carried their presence, their love, and their stories.
The property also included two duplexes that housed two families with children, our cousins providing them with safe and stable homes. When the fire swept through, these families were displaced, adding to the heartbreak of this tragedy.
The flames moved so quickly that we could save very little. Decades of irreplaceable memories—photos, heirlooms, and the physical reminders of our family’s journey—were lost in an instant.
Altadena is where we were born and raised. This home has been the cornerstone of our identity, a beacon of strength for our family, and a source of connection to our community.
Losing it is devastating, but we are determined to honor the legacy of those who came before us and create a foundation for future generations to continue their story.
