Help rebuild The Pet Carpenter after fire
Donation protected
On behalf of my brother who is the Director of our small business The Pet Carpenter, based on Dartmoor in Devon, I am putting a call out for community support at this very difficult time.
________________
In the early hours of Wednesday 27th October The Pet Carpenter’s workshop on Dartmoor was devastated by fire which started in the neighbouring unit. In the fire we lost all of our tools, machinery and materials as well as our workspace including 14 pieces of pet furniture which were due to be delivered to our customers in the coming weeks.
This is not only a devastating personal loss for owner Harry Glover and his family, but also for our invaluable team of six colleagues who have all poured their hearts and souls into supporting us to create a thriving business which only started in July 2020 amidst the global pandemic.
The Pet Carpenter was born from combining a love of carpentry and home interiors with a love for our nation's pets creating bespoke handcrafted pet furniture for pets and their humans throughout the UK. We are now looking at all the ways in which we can rebuild our business, look after our staff through the next few months, as well as serve all our existing customers with their orders without compromising the craftsmanship and quality for which we are known. We intend to use any funds raised towards covering the cost of:
- a temporary workshop location for The Pet Carpenter so we can get up and running as quickly as possible
- support for our dedicated team to ensure we can keep them in work
As any small business owner will appreciate, starting and growing a business is by no means easy and we are often faced with challenges which we work to overcome. However you never expect to be turning up to work to be faced with the harsh reality that your livelihood and your team’s livelihood is in jeopardy and what has been your working world has been taken from beneath your feet.
To help us continue through this challenging time we are seeking support from our community. We have no doubt this will go a long way to help alleviate the pressure of the challenges we face over the coming weeks and months. We are extremely dedicated to ensure The Pet Carpenter is here to stay and are driven to come back stronger than before.
We have thought long and hard about putting out such a request, however several of our community have reached out and suggested we do so. We have been blown away by the outpourings of love and good wishes and your comments alone continue to give us the drive and motivation to see these challenging times through. Whilst we do have insurance in place to cover such an event the process for which we have to go through is by no means straightforward or guaranteed. On behalf of all the team at The Pet Carpenter we are truly grateful and appreciative for support of any kind, especially at a time that's difficult for many.
