Help Rebuild TJ Whitt's Home After Mudslide

Donation protected
TJ Whitt and family were inside their home in Swannanoa when Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina, causing a massive mudslide that carried the Whitt’s home more than 60 feet downhill. By the grace of God, they were all able to get out safely, but now they have no home to go back to. Having been denied assistance from the government and homeowners insurance not covering mudslides, the Whitts no longer have somewhere to call home. TJ is an Erwin High alumni, owner of The Lounge Barber Studio, and long-time basketball coach, currently the assistant boys varsity basketball coach at Erwin High School. After losing his home, TJ stepped up for his neighbors in need, starting the first distribution hub at First Baptist Church in Swannanoa. The family needs money to rebuild 20 years of their hard work washed away in one storm. If you are able, please help share and donate so we can get this family back into a home!

"My whole house slid down the mountain about 60 feet with my whole family in it," Whitt said. "But we made it out, by God’s grace. We’re more fortunate than most here because we were able to go back in and get our clothes, personal belongings, the stuff that’s most important to us — wedding rings, birth certificates. … We grabbed those and got out."
