Help recover my family's home after Oxford Flood
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
My mom was one of the many people affected by the massive flood that destroyed much of Oxford, Southbury, and the surrounding towns. She lives directly on rt. 67, one of the worst damaged areas; Little River flows thru her backyard. She returned from work late Sunday night to find the house flooding, and complete devastation outside.. the river had grown so strong, it was carrying large boulders (and even cars in many areas..) which tore thru her fence and completely took out the houses foundation.. the flood was so strong it ripped up her propane tanks and AC unit, which are now floating in the basement, along with the entire wall, in about 8 feet of water. The roof also took damage and is now leaking heavily. She only had time to grab her dog, and our old dogs ashes. Our family photo albums, childhood keepsakes, and countless other sentimental items are gone. She was lucky to have been at work for the worst of it, or her car would have been swept away as well, or worse. My mom, and most others in Oxford, do not carry flood insurance, so none of this damage is covered.
I am asking for donations to assist her with costs of living, and to help repair her home. Anything you can give helps greatly. Even just sharing this to help more people see it is appreciated.. Thank you.
