Support Topanga Teachers After Fire

Hi! Myself- ÜMÏRÏON and my fiancée Sirai are teachers in Topanga, CA, at The Love School just a few miles from the Pacific Palisades. We live paycheck to paycheck with little opportunities to save money, and we’re happily expanding our lives to save up for a home, but all of that has been put at risk due to the massive destruction left by the 21,000+ acre fire that grew from the Palisades to less than a mile from our backyard. We are now missing work with no clue when we can return and no idea if we will have a home. We love where we live and are deeply ingrained in the community, but with so many families displaced and the ongoing wildfire, we are also at risk of not having a school to return to or not having the hours needed to pay our rent and afford food. At this point, we’ve had to relocate and start over with nothing. This crisis finds me at a time when I have already lost everything once during Hurricane Katrina, and just about this time last year, I finally found a home in Topanga which saved me from homelessness and chaotic couch surfing amidst diligent hard work and self-employment. We don’t know what we would do or where we would go if the fires shift in the wind and take everything. My heart and mind are at the edge of capacity with everything at risk, and I humbly ask in this vulnerable time for any support possible so we can begin again.
