Help Red and Karen on Red's road to recovery
Donation protected
As close family friends of the O'Donohues, we have set up this page to help support Karen and Red on Red's road to recovery.
As many of you would know, Red was flown to the RAH for emergency surgery in late October 2021 after losing all feeling in the lower half of his body due to a severe spinal cord compression. This has temporarily taken away his ability to walk and live his normal day to day life. Red is now at the Hampstead Rehabilitation Hospital working on his recovery. He has just mastered transferring himself from his bed to chair which is fantastic progress but he is now facing a month without any visitors due to COVID.
As such an active member of the Kimba community and a dedicated family man, we have no doubt that this situation is hitting Red, Karen and their family very hard, despite the brave faces that they put on. Probably none more than Karen, who has been travelling more than 900kms between Kimba and Adelaide each week to spend time with Red, whilst trying to balance work and family.
With Red unable to work for quite some time yet and travel and medical costs continuing, we want to do whatever we can to help and have no doubt that many of you feel the same. Thank you in advance for your kind contribution.
Here's to getting Red back home in 2022.
