Help refugee children get an education in Uganda
Since civil war broke out in South Sudan in 2013, more than 2.3 million people have been forced to flee their homes. 70,000 of them found shelter at the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda.
Gladys is one of them. She is 15 and is one of the children who live and study at the settlement. Help her and her friends pursue their studies to achieve their dreams and goals!
Here is what you can do for a child with a $150 donation:
- Tuition (Fees, registration, internal examinations and identity card): $112
- Stationary (4 note books and 8 pens): $8
- Uniform (sweater, T-Shirt, Pair of trouser or Skirt, necktie and sportswear): $30
This package is their key to a year of learning: every donation counts!
About the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative:
WPDI was founded in 2012 by artist, social activist, SDGs Advocate, and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation Forest Whitaker. Our aims is to promote the values of peace, reconciliation, and social development within communities impacted by conflict and violence.
We have been active in the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, located by the town of Bweyale, since 2016. Throughout these years, we have seen how even the humblest efforts to help refugee children, girls in particular, can have the most transformative impact on their lives. Your contribution can mean the world for them!
