Help Regina Major Recover After Eaton Fire

Support for Regina Major

Dear Family & Friends,

On the morning of January 8, 2024, the Eaton Fire raged through Altadena and destroyed Regina Major's home on Terrace Avenue. While her possessions--including her collection of magnets she acquired from her travels--were destroyed, she evacuated safely with her 101-year-old father, Arturo (Dee Dee). They are both lodged in a hotel until mid-day on Thursday, January 9, 2024.

The fire took much more than Regina's physical home and possessions, it burned right through the fabric of her own dedication to Altadena.

Regina, who grew up on the same Altadena block as a child, worked as a school teacher and support staff at the Pasadena Unified School District in Altadena for over 26 years before retiring in September of 2023. During her time at Altadena Arts Magnet School, Regina helped secure a monumental grant for the Arts magnet. Even after her retirement, Regina continues to support Altadena Arts Magnet two days of the work week. And for the last several years, Regina has worked as a liaison between Pasadena Church at Altadena Arts Magnet School to raise gift cards for teachers at the art school.

Outside of education, Regina has volunteered with the NAACP Altadena chapter for more than 10 years, and has been a proud volunteer for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses for 16 years.

And while Regina has been the first to help many in Altadena, she now finds herself needing to recover as a retiree and the primary caretaker of Arturo.

Family and Friends, as much as Regina gives, we know that she would not outwardly ask for help. That's why we created this fundraiser for her--for the person who worked with others to make Altadena great. If you are willing, your contributions--any little bit--will provide immediate relief and support.

Regina and Dee Dee have lost virtually everything. They need clothes, shoes, and toiletries to get through the week. Gas, food, and essentials for living. And they need funds to help them manage temporary housing cost and new caregiving needs for Dee Dee. Any funds we receive will go directly to Regina and Arturo immediately.

Thank you for considering to help Regina and Dee Dee's recover a piece of Altadena.

Sincerely,

Ariana and Eric Craig (Regina's Daughter & Son)
