Help Reginald Dowdy Through This Tragic Loss

My name is Reginald Dowdy and I lost my son Rylee Dowdy yesterday, 9/01/2024, due to complications from a heart transplant that he received last year on April 17th, 2023. He was going to all of his appointments and taking all of his medications, but on July 12, 2024, he became sick once again. Children’s Egleston Hospital in Decatur, Georgia, did everything they could, but unfortunately, they couldn’t save him. Rylee fought as much as he could, and he’s the strongest kid in the world. Although I wish the outcome was different, I know that God had a different plan. Rylee is now with his oldest brother Keion, who I lost on May 3, 2010, when he was murdered at the age of 7 by his step-dad. To say this is hard is an understatement; losing two sons in one lifetime is something that words can’t describe.

Not only has this been mentally and emotionally hard, it has also been financially hard because I had to take off work so that I could spend as much time with him as I could. As a father, I needed him to know how much I love him. I need all of the love and support in this difficult time, and anything is greatly appreciated. Although this is extremely difficult for a father to have to go through more than once, I know that God is using me as a vessel, and even though I don’t understand it, I know that through all of this, He is in control.
