Help Regina's Lifesaving Treatment-related Costs

Donation protected
On March 3, 2023, Regina Fry was admitted to the hospital in Grass Valley, CA, when she sought care due to excruciating pain in her abdomen and legs. Something none of us ever wants to hear became Regina’s sudden nightmare: Regina’s kidneys were failing and her life threatened.

Regina was under close monitoring for her hemoglobin among other medical needs like severely high blood pressure, and unfortunately at the young age of only 45 years old and otherwise a healthy adult, Regina needed a blood transfusion and dialysis to stay alive! A couple of days after being admitted, Regina was deemed in need of more expert care and transported from Grass Valley to a hospital in Sacramento with kidney experts on site. Regina has undergone countless tests and biopsy, and finally, 5 days after being admitted, Regina has been diagnosed with PR3 Vasculitis autoimmune disease. And, the doctors are still waiting on biopsy results and other tests to confirm she does not have other contributing medical ailments.

Regina’s nightmare continues as PR3 Vasculitis, a very rare and very serious autoimmune disease, has attacked Regina’s organs leaving her kidneys harmed and not effectively operating. It has also attacked her joints leaving her in severe pain. Regina is frightened as she fights for her life! Regina’s fight for her life against this disease requires at minimum 3 months of aggressive treatment and a year after of ongoing maintenance treatment regimen, including kidney dialysis, steroids, chemotherapy cyclophosphamide and several other medications. Regina has started this lifesaving treatment in hopes the year-long regimen, will stop Regina’s immune cell proteins from attacking and harming her body and threatening her life.

Not only has the disease left Regina frightened for her life, but she is also very frightened for her family’s livelihood. Regina and her husband are both self-employed and this medical catastrophe has halted and seized all their earning potential as they deal with saving Regina’s life. Additionally, the travel to the hospital/medical treatment site in Sacramento is about 150 miles round trip, so gas costs, as you can imagine, are hitting them hard. Additionally, Regina and her husband have an amazing, thriving, 8-year-old son who they have had to put on independent studies throughout this nightmare so they have one less thing to worry about with his school drop off and pick up. Regina’s life has been turned upside down. This nightmare has frightened Regina and her family as she begins down a long road to fight for her life as well as has created worry of significant financial burden!

In this very difficult time, we are asking for financial assistance for Regina’s following lifesaving treatment-related costs over the next year:
• Medical costs - approximately $25,000 (out-of-pocket kidney failure and autoimmune treatment expenses over the next year);
• Living expenses - approximately $20,000 (basic household costs like utilities, food and mortgage); and
• Travel costs – approximately $5,000 (gas and vehicle maintenance for long-distance travel to treatment site)

If you can, we will appreciate any amount of help supporting Regina’s lifesaving treatment-related expenses! Prayers are openly welcome and needed, and if you can donate it will be super helpful and appreciated more than we can express. Your thoughts and prayers have been a massive comfort to Regina during this very difficult time. Regina and her family look forward to her completing the lifesaving treatment regimen over the next year plus, and Regina finally having a healthier future one day.

Thank you all for your prayers, love and support!
