Renee’s middle child

As many of you have heard, my mother Renee Henry had a heart attack Tuesday morning. She was brought to CCH in Columbus. After several tests and blood draws she was sent up to ICU.

Later that afternoon a CT scan was done as well as scans done in the cath lab. There it was discovered that she had what they called 3 artery disease. Stenting was not an option due to the severity of the heart. Renee was transferred to NHI Nebraska Heart Institute by helicopter where more tests were done. It was than scheduled for her to undergo triple bypass surgery this morning (Wednesday) July 3rd.

Surgery was at 7:30, we got report from the doctor at 11 that everything looked good and they would start to close her up.

A phone call from the surgeon around 2pm where we got the news we were not expecting. While closing her up and taking her off bypass, my mother’s heart stopped beating. Not sure of what was going on or the cause, doctors gave her a little bit and tried another time. My mother’s heart stopped a second time. The decision was made by the doctors to do more cath lab scans to see what was going on and to see if they were missing something. Several hours passed by, we met the surgeon again and was told during the cath lab tests, it was shown that my mom has more blockage and heart damage than they can fix at this time. It may be a reaction to the heparin or it could be that her heart is to damaged to repair.

The doctors couldn’t close her back up, she is on ecmo for the next 24 hours to let her heart rest and see if it will ever beat on its own.

The doctors said there is a 5% chance it could but with the severity of the damage, She will be taken off ecmo and let it be in god’s hands.

We were not prepared for this at all.

Renee has a daughter and grandson in Florida whom we are trying to get back here ASAP to make the final decisions for end of life of our loved one. If you have it in your heart to spare a few dollars and help us bring family home during this hard time, help with medical cost, travel and hotels for the daughters and their family’s during this hard time.

Renee unfortunately did not have anything set up as nobody is ever prepared for end of life. Your donations would help tremendously
