Help Renovate Lake Tuskegee Pavilion & Restroom
Donation protected
Greetings,
I am Curtis J. Calhoun, a life-long member and resident of the Tuskegee Community. I am currently seeking donations to be used towards the purchase of materials and necessary labor & equipment costs for services that cannot be obtained through volunteer services to repair and beautify the Pavilion & Restrooms located on Lake Tuskegee .
Overtime, some public facilities in our community have become inoperable and unusable. As a member of the community with a background in Construction and Management, I was spiritually compelled to donate my talent and efforts by completing the repairs free of charge to the community through volunteer labor and other local contractors. However, the ability to make the best improvements will largely depend on the amount of funding available to purchase the materials needed.
In a recent city council meeting, the City Manager, Mayor, and City Council, discussed the idea of my proposal and unanimously approved the authorization to complete repairs to this public facility by volunteer labor and fundraising free of charge. It is my wish to work together as a community with the local government to help improve our quality of life using our own knowledge, skills, and funds to change the way we live here in this historic community.
Expected Proposed Upgrades :
Restrooms:
- New tile to cover all walls and floors for easy cleaning
- New toilets, sinks, & tissue and soap dispensers
-New lighting and exhaust fans
-New water and sewage lines ( If necessary)
-New Doors and Signage
-New Trash Receptacle
- All Rotten wood repairs and Paint
Pavilion:
- New Railing and trim work
-New grilles and picnic tables
-New lighting and additional electrical outlets
-New Paint and Landscaping
-New Trash & Recycling Receptacle
- Replacements of All rotten wood
Additional Upgrades if Funding is available:
- 12x24 Deck extensions ( Increases pavilion space by 300 sq. ft.)
-kiddie playground
- Lakeside Bench Seating
- Life Floats w/ Ropes for Water Safety
- Landscaping ( Flowering trees, weather-tough & invasive plants )
-Others
Please use this as rough idea of what can be expected from this project. Funding will ultimately determine how much can be done and the project is can expect to be completed in a 3 day Community Volunteer event to be announced, but expected to be completed by April/May 2021.
I have taken to time to create a special financial account to ensure transparency and handling of funds raised to complete this project. I want this project to be a starting point for us as a community to pick up and work together to rebuild our community one step at a time. Thank you for your time and for those who donate and believe in this project. Money is not everything so if you have some time, volunteers will be needed soon to make this a reality! #skegeelove #tuskegeeunited
Lastly, because of the outpouring of support and my desire to not to make this project about myself, I decided to create a group name to be the face of this project," Tuskegee United" . WE CAN DO THIS!!
Best Regards~
