Help Renovate Starksboro Preschool for Future Generations
Tax deductible
The Starksboro Cooperative Preschool has been in operation for 50 years as a top-quality child care and early education center for the children of Starksboro and surrounding towns. Nearly 40 of those years, it has used the Starksboro Village Meetinghouse as its home and classroom.
The historic Starksboro Meeting House is in it is in desperate need of renovation to ensure safe and functional classrooms for another 50 years.
The need for affordable, locally provided early childhood education has continued to grow. Through this project, the preschool has the opportunity to expand and engage more local children. Plans include adding a second classroom to serve toddlers, and increasing enrollment capacity by 11 slots per year. However, the space requires numerous improvements to bring it up to code for increased enrollment.
This project will serve as a full renovation of the walk-out level of the meetinghouse. It will include code compliance upgrades, improved insulation and heating systems, remediation of lead paint hazards that will allow functional use of the windows, addition of a second classroom space, and an additional bathroom, all of which are needed to increase annual enrollment.
The total project cost is estimated to be $454,000. We’ve already raised $389,000 through grants and gifts. That leaves $65,000 left to raise! Please help us get to the finish line. Our goal for this GoFundMe is to hit at least $40,000.
Hundreds of local children and families have benefited from this local education opportunity over the years. Your help now will ensure that hundreds or even thousands more benefit over the next 50 years.
