The Detroit Catholic Worker is an intentional community that aims to live out the gospel by performing the works of mercy and resisting violence and greed in our society. The Detroit CW has served the vulnerable in Corktown and surrounding neighborhoods since 1937.
Our common home, Day House, has been the hub of this work since 1978. At Day House we offer food, transitional shelter, showers, laundry, and above all, community to those in need. You can learn more about Day House and the Catholic Worker movement at www.ontheedgecw.com
Our kitchen is the heart of our shared home and our community. It is over our weekly potlucks and meals shared with strangers and guests that the bulk of our community building happens. In order to continue building community and serving our community safely and sustainably, our kitchen is in desperate need of updates.
With your contributions, we will :
- Replace damaged flooring and walls
- Update/replace damaged appliances
- Install new sinks, counters, and shelving
- Eliminate pests
- Update/replace old and damaged plumbing and electrical systems
In helping us build a safer, more efficient kitchen, you are ensuring that Day House can spend 40 more years sharing time, a table, and community with those who need it. May God reward your generosity!
