Help Renovate "The Hope House"

Hello! We are Sam and Anjuli Paschall and we live in San Diego with our 5 kids. Sam is a pastor at Mission Hills Church and I am an author, speaker, and spiritual director. We both graduated from Talbot with an MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care.

Since being in full-time ministry for over 15 years, we have seen pastors regularly leaving their positions, missionaries who are burnt out, young adults floundering, and families on the edge of collapse. We believe there needs to be a place for believers to receive deep soul care.

For years we have dreamed of opening a retreat house for Christians who are weary, wandering, and seeking wisdom in their faith.

We have wanted to create a place for couples to find reprieve, pastors to receive care, artists to be inspired, mothers to experience rest, husbands to find healing, and young adults to wrestle with their deepest questions.

Last February this dream became a reality (by the generosity of Wichit and Miriam Maneevone) and right next door to us! We are launching the ministry: Soujourn & Sage: Wisdom for the Weary and the retreat home called, "The Hope House!"

Coming this September- May, we will launch our very first residency program for young adults. In the summer of 2024, we plan to use the house for retreats.

But we can't do this alone.

"The Hope House," needs YOUR help.

1) We are asking if you'll pray for the launching of this ministry. Pray for the young adults (we have 8 residents who have already applied for fall 2023) and retreat attendees to have a deep encounter with the love of God and a rich community through honesty and hospitality. Please pray for our family to transition well as we take on this ministry and continue to lead the church.

2) We are asking if you would consider contributing to the financial costs of updating the house. The house is in great condition for being built in the 1960s, but it does need a massive facelift. We want this home to be BEAUTIFUL for those who stay here. It needs to be a place where they can walk in and immediately feel loved, at ease, and at home.

To get the house (2,600 SQ Ft. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 stories) ready for the residency program in September and retreats in the summer, it needs:

We hope to renovate the ceiling, floors, electrical fixtures, walls, and fully furnish the home this summer. Each year we want to do a few more updates to the home.
