Help Reopen Beloved A & C Kitchen
Donation protected
Family-owned and operated restaurant A & C Kitchen needs the help of our community. One of the oldest restaurants on Avenue C, Mr. Lee opened his beloved restaurant of Chinese & American food in November of 1992.
Despite making it through covid closures (A & C was closed from March 2020, reopening in June 2021) a recent two-alarm fire in the building has caused Mr. Lee to close again.
On February 27, a fire broke out in the courtyard of 136 Avenue C due to a lit cigarette from the neighboring building.
The restaurant next door, the Wayland was closed for a matter of days however A & C continues to have their gas shut off. All other tenants and adjacent businesses had their water and gas restored. A & C did not have any fire damage affecting gas lines. Despite this, bills are piling up to make repairs from the blaze in the courtyard.
Due to the fire, Mr.Lee lost inventory, faced flood damage in the basement and continues to lose income.
A & C cannot only use the support of our neighborhood but also possible resources to assist with navigating the bureaucracy that comes along with reopening.
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated! So many of us rely on his delicious and affordable meals. Thank you!!!
